Good Monday!

Hello Beacon 219,

Today's visit found you guys in progress on some pretty amazing projects.

The 12 & 13's are in the process of working on a photojournalism display of an environmental/human sustainability issue about community and pollution. I can't wait to see the images the kids chose to represent these issues.
Remember that you guys are also responsible for displaying your Pathway projects and other exciting projects at your booths. So let's post some ideas!

A little birdie told me that the site is hard at work on your IYD presentation for the Main Stage. My advice, make sure the ideas and actions on stage are presented around one cohesive message since this performance represents the entire site. I like the skit idea. It seems that you chose to highlight the most essential element of sustainability: Human sustainability. For unless we are willing and able to unite and pool our efforts, the positive impact we may have on this world and our natural environment may never happen.

Remember, individually we are but one drop; but together we are an ocean.

The 10&11s will have an awesome opportunity to view the South Bronx from a new perspective during their upcoming field experience, the TOXIC TOUR sponsored by the Sustainable South Bronx organization. I am looking forward to the reflections from that day!

The 5th graders are hard at work on their cultural projects covering the Caribbean nations. It was very nice to see the kids using literacy to learn more about such exciting topics. Who knew that kids would have fun researching in the summer? George DID!

The elementary environments look very nice and I am very pleased to see the arts projects coming out of Liz and Suleidy's groups. They will make for very interesting displays at the IYD booth. Let's think about some of those decorative reflection journals on display at the booth. Why not?

Til next time,

Tate
