Good Monday Everybody!
I am so excited about your performances, which I was fortunate enough to see you guys practice earlier today. Keep up the good work!
About your booth presentations, each exhibit from each group should be labeled with the following information:
A. Your Group's Name
B. Age Range
C. Title of the Exhibit (i.e. "Turtles from Under the Sea")
D. A Description of the project (What was done to create it? Why? Duration of the project? What the kids' learned)
The easiest way to do this task of labeling your works/projects is to type up the labels and make sure they are pasted or posted near the project for the viewer's convenience. The booths will be set up much like a "DFOY Children's Museum" and viewers will need to fully understand the work we display.
Thanks for all you do,
Ms. Tate

Good Friday BEACON 219!!!
Good Friday All,
How is everything going at Beacon 219! I do miss you guys and seeing you progress in developing your projects!
Malaika, I do hope that today's visit from Mr. Reavis was encouraging for your performers and that your non-performers have finished putting together their Photojournalism exhibit.
Stephon, I have heard that your cultural awareness performers now have wardrobe! I do hope that you will be adding to your IYD contribution the masks and sculptures completed by the group and perhaps one more piece that reflects their current discussions and activities that incorporate cultural awareness and environmental awareness. I have an idea for something small yet powerful! ( A map that has little flags on countries that have environmental action projects going and those that are environmentally unstable -like the US. Kind of a problem/solution identification map. Which countries are environmental problems? Which are becoming part of the solution?)
George, I saw the boat! Your group's booth is well under way!
Suleidy, how are the masks going?
Liz, the kids sound so cute.
Vanessa, how is Koreh' s poem? Of course, he didn't email me a copy, probably suspecting that I would be by the site this week. The Santos twins...I will be onsite with Beacon 219 on Monday to practice with them .
Til Next Week....Blog and tell your groups' success stories!

Good Monday!
Today's visit found you guys in progress on your International Youth Day 2009 presentations.
I am so looking forward to: the art and musical performance from the Elementary groups and the dance/drama performance/photojournalism/public service announcement presentations from the middle school groups.
I really like the broad spectrum of topics within human and environmental sustainability that will be exhibited. Let's start pulling together the projects created that will be presented within the Site's display booth. Keep in mind, also, that smaller performance pieces can be staged in front of the booth as a way to draw the viewers' attention to our site' s booth.
Stephon, good job bringing the experience your kids had on the Sustainable South Bronx "Toxic Tour" to your workshop as a beginning of your next Pathway cycle on Environmental Sustainability. Don't forget to look at the environmental problems and efforts of the different countries that you have been exploring from a cultural standpoint.
Malaika, I like the ideas behind your upcoming photojournalism campaign. It really seems like your kids were able to choose some powerful messages that may bring out the images. Good job.
Jasmine, good luck with the Public Service Announcement project. Let's see if we can't get that on video record in order to catalogue your group's work. (I will work on getting the camera to you ASAP!:)
Liz & Suleidy, I believe that the kids sound amazing and that the accompanying animal masks to be displayed during the song performance and at the booth.
George, the Caribbean island project you are cooking up sounds amazing. Can't wait to see it!
Thanks for your efforts and amazing creativity! Full steam ahead, Beacon 219!
Remember, "Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean!"
